of companies. The
Group today, is made up of 26 subsidiaries, associates,
joint
venture companies under a holding company.
The Group has shown rapid growth over the past
decade and this is the direct result
of our reputation for integrity, reliability, quality and professionalism.
Having come a long way since its inception, the Group's diversity has
evolved to a point where we are almost reaching total synergy. The
interrelated nature of the companies and business activities within the Group encourages
forward and backward
integration between the companies.
The Group currently has over 140 employees. It also employs indirectly
through labour

general workers.
ACCREDITATION AND STRENGTHS
Over
the years, the major companies within the Group have received
several accreditations, some of which are internationally recognised
and the others, are necessary in the building and construction
industry in Malaysia.
A summary of the accreditation of the Group include:
 |
ISO9002 Certification by SIRIM QAS Sdn Bhd |
 |
G7 and Class A Contractor respectively |
 |
Enterprise 50 (1999 & 2000) |
As part
of the Group's core values of commitment to excellence and
continuous improvement, five (5) of its fourteen (14) operating subsidiaries
companies have been accredited with the ISO9002 certification. The
Group intends to have most of its major operating subsidiaries
achieve the ISO standard by 2001.
Presently, 2 companies
within the Group are registered as grade G7 for building construction and
civil engineering works with the Construction Industry Development Board
("CIDB"), while another company is registered as "Class A" contractor with
Contractor Services Centre of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development.
Basically, these 2 classes of registration enable the respective company
to bid for projects of unlimited contract value in terms of the specific
building and construction works as spelled out in the respective
registration.
One of the major companies within the Group that is involved in the
provision of management contracting services broke the industry norm by
being awarded the Grade G7 registration with CIDB for a consecutive
period of 3 years, having been in the industry for just 1 year. Industry
norm for award is usually for a period of 1 year and renewable on an
annual basis.

Since
1996, Enterprise
50 is an annual award programme organised by Andersen Consulting
and the Small and Medium Industries Development Corporation which
recognises the achievements of Malaysia's
enterprising homegrown companies. As its name suggests, there will
be 50 winners amongst the
nomination received and the evaluation is based on the management and
financial performance of the nominee. The annual programme is open to
local enterprises across different industries in Malaysia. In 2000 and
1999, TSI Group Malaysia was the only construction company that made it to
the Top 50 Enterprise awards.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
The TSI Group research and
development efforts are primarily geared towards product development and
expansion of new markets. Its focus is to develop pre-engineered,
prefabricated building products and systems that can fitted at the site
with minimal labour requirement. As these products are mainly manufactured
off-sites, the quality, reliability, accuracy and speed of the
construction can be enhanced as compared with the conventional methods of
construction.
It has successfully developed its own cubicle curtain track under its own
brand name. the Group's hospital cubicle curtain track under the brand
name Mediatrack is a product made from high quality aluminium in natural
anodish finish. Mediatrack allows the PVC liner running inside the full
strength of the cubicle to run smoothly and quietly along the gliders
without snagging and joints.
Apart from that, the Group is also in the midst of developing its own
model of prefabricated bathroom units and aluminium demountable acoustic
partition. The prefabricated bathroom units produced by the Group under
the brand name Unilav are made from high quality sheet moulding
compound which is a high technological compound widely used in the
aerospace and marine industries due to its light weight, strong and impact
resistance characteristics. It is durable, environmentally safe, thermal
resistant and easy to install.
The aluminium demountable acoustic partition can be used in areas of
offices and factories as partition where the level of acoustic is
important. These areas include meeting rooms, theater and function room.
The product is easily demountable. The frames are available in a wide
range of colours and clad with acoustic boarding laminated with vinyl,
fabric and other finishes to suit the taste of customers.
To remain competitive, the Group will continue to tap upon its efforts in
the research and development of new product that can enhance on-site
productivity, quality and reliability and customer satisfaction.
